Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.

Back Into the Spring of Things -- Scottsboro, Alabama Lifestyle Photographer

Ooof!  It's been a while, huh?  My only excuse for the extra-long hiatus is Real Life:  surgery, Christmas holidays, my husband's job switcharoo, buying a new house, then moving.  It was a loooooong Winter!

But I never put down my camera (well, okay, except for the two weeks I spent unpacking 5 people + 17 years worth of belongings), and I have some goodies to show you!  A short re-cap of what my colder months looked like, before we get back into the "Spring of Things".

Snow!

Snow!

But then, almost like magic, Winter melted away and things began to happen -- miraculous things.

And some unexpected home repair projects (this was less than miraculous, but so realistic;  new-to-you homes come with surprises).

In all, it's been a lovely season of rest and activity, joy and challenges.  I am blessed -- and raring to get back in the swing (Spring) of things!

Tell me about your winter -- and what plans do you have for the Spring?

Music Notes and Library Books -- Huntsville, Alabama Senior Portrait Photographer

Anna is a most exceptional young lady.  Homeschooled throughout her entire educational journey, she is a true bibliophile, plays the viola, loves Doctor Who and Jane Austen, and oh by the way, she's gorgeous, with a sweet elegance most any grown woman would find enviable.  Seriously, I wanna be Anna when I grow up.

Her Senior portrait session was a veritable what's what of Madison, Alabama: the library, historic downtown Madison, and a sunset venue replete with glassy pond and sunflowers.  I couldn't be more pleased with these images, showcasing a beautiful young lady and the world that is sure to be her oyster.

Mothers & Daughters -- Huntsville Alabama Natural Light Family Photographer

As a mother of three daughters I'm probably biased, but I can think of no bond more instinctually secure than that of a mother for her daughters -- except perhaps a daughter for her mother.  I'm sure it was this that Lisa and Alison had in mind when they asked me to do a session for their mom, Faye, as this past Mother's Day gift.  I was so honored to be a part of the love these three ladies share for each other, especially since Alison and Lisa hold a dear place in my heart as cousins, and their mom as my great-aunt, full of life and energy and love.  They waited until the Autumn season was in full force to schedule their session, and what a privilege it was to spend the afternoon with these gorgeous ladies, golden light filtering through brilliantly colored trees, waning warmth tinged with a chilly breeze.  And oh my what fun we had!  I don't know that I've ever been a part of a more laugh-filled portrait session.

UAH Class of 2014 -- Senior Portrait Photographer, Huntsville Alabama

Graduation.  A time of exhaustion sure (Finals anyone?), but also of relief and celebration and a sense of overwhelming pride in an accomplishment years in the making.  I always feel so proud for others who find themselves ready to cross the finish line, diploma in hand, tassel swinging.

For Oschelle, graduation is also the perfect time to celebrate her wonderful relationship with boyfriend Mykal.  We combined a Senior session with a couples session and the result was pure magic.  Such a sweet couple -- and they gave me best payment I've ever received on the job: hugs!

Seasonal Gifts

It's a wondrous thing to witness the world fade from lush green to burnt orange, the softness of summer fading to Autumn, warmth hardening into crisp coolness.  A miraculous thing really.

The world around us bursts forth with tiny gifts:  delicate blossoms stretch forth, grasses give their last seedy offerings, insects unfurl wings or slither into the sun for a final soaking-in of waning warmth.  It's precious, these last days of pre-chill.

It has to be one of the best gifts given to us by our Creator, this design of one last brilliant flash of color before the dead of winter.  I drink it in, this season of waning, a bittersweet reminder that all must come to a restful end before newness can begin again.
