Magical Disney World Wedding — Huntsville Alabama Photographer

I’ve done a few weddings, and they’re exciting, all that romance, the energy — but weddings are a special kind of beast;  they require something Extra of a photographer, an element of patience and lightning quick brainpower not available to the average person.  I admit it:  I’m much happier away from the crowds and on-session with families, beautiful mothers, women, Seniors, giggling children — intimate settings where shoulders are relaxed and laugher falls freely from smiling lips.

But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t go to a wedding if invited, especially if that wedding happened to be in the happiest place on earth — and most especially if that wedding happened to be my cousin’s wedding.

Hidden Mickeys are everywhere — but you’ve got be paying attention.  This one was no bigger than the size of a U.S. nickel.

I actually hadn’t seen my cousin, Jai (who is an amazing artist!), in about six years.  Both only-children of siblings (my dad and his mom), that was back during Christmas of 2007, I believe.  I actually met his then-girlfriend (now wife!) Julie, at that time — and liked her immediately.  But Jai and Julie live in New York and I live in Alabama, so the distance has always played a factor in our relationship over the years.  It stinks, actually, but I digress…

I’ve always loved this boy;  I’ve felt every bit the part of older sister to him over the years, but I didn’t really acknowledge how much I’d truly missed Jai until entering the Grand Floridian and rounding the corner, seeing him sitting there as the final ends of the wedding rehearsal were being tied up.  I admit, I teared up a bit, watching him there beside his bride, all grown up and every bit the polished young man I always knew he’d be someday.

But enough of that sappy stuff — let’s get down to the reason we were there in Disney World:  a magical wedding fit for kings and queens, princes and princesses!

Nope, that’s not the couple’s wedding photographer.  That’s Jai’s other cousin (incidentally, also an only child), who flew in with his mother all the way from India.

Ah, there’s the official wedding photographer!  (I admit, I covet his gear…)

As the wedding party filed in, excitement was building, building, building …

Jai and Julie said their vows at the Grand Floridian Wedding Chapel.  It was a stunner of a ceremony — handsome groom, gorgeous bride.

And then?  Why, we headed over to Citrico’s to enjoy to-die-for food and dancing, of course!

The reception had a Vinylmation theme, and every guest got to take home their very own Vinylmation.

I had a wonderful time.  Jai’s and Julie’s wedding was one of the best days of my life.  I got to spend the day with wonderful people, beloved family, and new friends, eating amazing food and laughing until my cheeks hurt.  And I’m just so stinkin’ proud of this young man and his new wife.  Congrats Jai and Julie!

ETA:  But wait — there’s MORE!

Wonderful pictures, his expressions are priceless! What a great collection for them to have from their day!

I really like your work. I have family “in the business” and I really like your ability to capture the expressions you do. Its very intimate and in the moment. If you wanted to expand your market over here to the Atl I am sure you would have no problem getting on vendors lists. Most of the wedding photography I have seen is trying so hard to be cute it makes me want to hurl — couples blowing dandelions, etc. We need help over here.

I grew up in FL, and am curious about the anole, it looks like a Bahamian/Carolina hybrid, and wondering if you just photoshopped some color into a Bahamian, as Carolinas have been pushed out of central FL by the larger Bahamians and PR crested anoles. It makes me happy nonetheless, I miss those little critters. Jeez now I sound like a total lizard geek. I am going away now.

Haha! I love geeks of all shapes and sizes — even lizard geeks. :) I actually know nothing of lizards myself and you’ve educated me. I didn’t edit this little guy much at all. I think I *might* remember deepening the colors ever so slightly, but not a lot; the colors you see are pretty much what I had in camera.

Thanks for the kind words — MUCH appreciated. :)

Thank you for sharing your pictures from your family wedding. Your pictures are nice. The groom will be able to remember to look at his wife that way, forever! I’ll have to share your information on my FB page—-I have lots of peeps in Huntsville.

My son was married here in Ohio in Oct 2012. He started crying when he saw his bride walking up the aisle. I am SO SO glad I had my eyes on his face and saw his expression, as the photographer did not caputure his expression. Not one pic!!
Kudos to you, Lauren. Enjoyed seeing your work and the lovely, lovely photos you took.

Hmm is anyone else encountering problems with the pictures on this blog loading? I’m trying to determine if its a problem on my end or if it’s the blog. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Could be that I’m getting so many hits in such a short time period? Come back next week when I’m sure things have slowed down. Thanks for the visit. :)
